Celebrating 200 years from the Greek Revolution, this WAKS limited edition candle, holds a light to the heroic spirit of Greece, from 1821 until now.
The 1821 Collection celebrates the bicentennial anniversary of the Greek Revolution. Each piece has been handmade by ceramicist Cristina Morali, in a limited edition of 200.
Red, white, blue and black honour the colours of the revolutionaries and their traditional dress, the “fustanella”,” fesi”, “tsarouxi”. The scent of this candle, Amber and Olibanum pays tribute to the incense “Livani” burnt in Orthodox churches. Priests at the time of Ottoman occupation, kindled the spirit of the Revolution by running secret schools teaching Greek and preserving the Christian faith. These references, as well as the ceramic material of the vessel salute Greek tradition, past and present.
- Head Notes: ambery, olibanum (frankincense), woody notes
- Heart notes: ambery, spicy balsamic, woody, jasmine, slightly fruity
- Base notes: ambery, balsamic (spiced gourmand vanilla notes), woody (sandal, frankincense)
